2010 Hurricane Season Prediction

There are many factors that are taken into consideration with hurricanes.  The warming of the waters in the oceans play a major role and will have an impact on the hurricane season.

This year the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting there to be 14-23 named storms and 8-14 hurricanes, of which 3-7 will be major (category 3-5).  This is in contrast to a quiet 2009 with only 9 named storms and no land falling hurricanes in the US.

According to the Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and NOAA adminstrator, "The greater likelihood of storms brings an increased risk of a landfall. In short, we urge everyone to be prepared."

Experts are urging everyone to be prepared.   Are you?
